Pechakucha night#3

Last week (26th May 2007) I was invited by Khun Surat “try to be nice” to present my ice cream design works at this creative event called “Pechakucha night, free Bangkok creativity” at Playground! inspiration store, Thong Lor as one of the 17 speakers. Although it’s just only the third time in Bangkok, it has been taken place in so many countries a long time ago, Tokyo is the first city in 2003, originally devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein-Dytham Architecture (KDa). The name derives from a Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit-chat”).

A Pecha Kucha night is an event format in which presenters show a slideshow of 20 images, each of which is shown for 20 seconds — giving a total presentation time of 6 minutes 40 seconds and the event starts at 20:20 pm. Each event usually has 20 presenters. Presenters (and much of the audience) are usually from the design, architecture, photography, art and creative fields.

Firstly I felt it’s plenty of time to explain the concept of each image within 20 second. By contrast, I was quite exhaust to hurry up explaining everything in this short moment. However I still feel happy to participate in such a good event where gather all the works, opinions or whatever from so many persons to inspire each other. Speakers to speakers, speakers to the audiences and perhaps… audiences to audiences if they are inspired and become the speakers for the next time.

Hopefully this ball will keep rolling and rolling as a cycle like this in the future and won’t end up just only on the 3rd time….
